Phyllis Ann Murphy

Ms. Phyllis Ann Murphy, 57, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. 

Phyllis A. Murphy was born on August 14, 1966, in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Phyllis departed this life peacefully at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her father, John W. Baldwin; mother, Catherine Hargrove Murphy; two sisters, Alice K. Murphy Tatum and Linda F. Ferguson; and a brother, Albert D. Murphy Jr.

Phyllis received her childhood education in the Southern Pines NC school system and graduated from Pinecrest High School with the class of 1984, where she also played softball. Phyllis continued her education and received a CNA certificate from Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC.

Phyllis was a member of Jordan Chapel Church located in Manly, NC, where she attended faithfully for many years. Phyllis enjoyed dancing, family gatherings, getting together with her beloved classmates “Go 84,” traveling, and was a good cook. Phyllis was known for her loving, warm smile and gentle soul with a bubbly spirit. She loved watching basketball and football. Her favorite NFL Team was the Carolina Panthers. Phyllis worked at St. Joseph Hospital and Quail Haven for most of her career. She was a Breast Cancer Advocate and Survivor.

Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Tiquan Murphy of Southern Pines, NC; four sisters, Reba M. Morrison (Calvin) of Garner, NC, Eva M. Camp of Southern Pines, Patricia J. Cameron of Dallas, NC and Kathy A. Murphy Pinehurst, NC; two aunts, Helen Cooper and Alice Brooks both of Hyattsville MD; six special friends, Monise Brown, DeDe Huff, Maggie Brantley, Iris Kelly, Vonda and Donnie Bennett; an adopted mother, Ms. Earldine Marshall; a godson, Jonathon Brown, and his daughter, Aurie; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
